Mizzou Men’s Golf Signs Meek, Tuusa to 2020 Recruiting Class

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf signed a pair of future student-athletes to its 2020 recruiting class, head coach Mark Leroux announced Wednesday. Homegrown Dawson Meek (Sprinfield, Mo.) and international talent Saku Tuusa (Salo, Finland) inked National Letters of Intent to play at Mizzou next year.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf signed a pair of future student-athletes to its 2020 recruiting class, head coach Mark Leroux announced Wednesday. Homegrown Dawson Meek (Sprinfield, Mo.) and international talent Saku Tuusa (Salo, Finland) inked National Letters of Intent to play at Mizzou next year.

"Saku and Dawson will be great additions to our program and bolster an already talented roster," head coach Mark Leroux said. "They've each won at a high level and know what it takes to succeed on and off the course. They are both wonderful, hardworking individuals who will proudly represent Mizzou for the next four years."

Meek is a senior at Glendale High School in Springfield, Mo., and has had tremendous success in the state of Missouri. Last spring, he captured the individual 2019 Missouri Class 4 title, shooting 68 and 78, respectively, to finish with a 2-over 146. He led Glendale to a seventh-place finish at the Missouri state tournament. 

Meek was also named the 2018 O-Zone Boys Golfer of the Year after placing third overall in the state tournament as a junior. He shot a two-round score of 144, including a 70 on day one to take third. Meek is set to continue a long line of home-state golfers who have shined at a high level during prep careers in the state of Missouri before joining Leroux's squad, including current Tigers Ross Steelman and Jack Parker, and 2019 graduate Matt Echelmeier.

Tuusa, a member of the Finnish National Boys Team, is ranked No. 500 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He won the 2018 Finnish Junior Tour Ranking, which includes all players under the age of 21 in Finland. His prep career was highlighting by winning three Finnish Junior Tour events en route to capturing the Finnish Junior Tour Ranking title.

Tuusa was also a 2018 Continent of Europe Jacques Leglise Trophy Selection. He additionally finished in the Top-40 at the 2018 Finnish Men Stroke Play Championship. 

Meek and Tuusa will replace departing seniors Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) and Ricky Sanders (The Hague, Netherlands). Franssen and Sanders are set to graduate in the spring of 2020 and winter of 2020, respectively.
