COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 12-ranked Mizzou Wrestling hosts Illinois this Thursday (Nov. 14) at St. Louis's Francis Howell High School at 7 p.m. as it looks for its first win of the 2019-20 season. Mizzou enters the dual with a 0-1 record while Illinois comes in at 1-1. Mizzou is coming off a hard-fought, 29-10 loss at No. 18 Virginia Tech on November 2. Illinois wrestled last Sunday against both Army, losing 19-5, and UT-Chattanooga, winning 22-10.
This Thursday's dual is almost completely sold out and is rivaling the same atmosphere of last year's dual at Kansas City's Park Hill High School.
Mizzou will be the second nationally ranked team that Illinois will wrestle this season and third team overall. The Illini lost to No. 24 Army on Sunday 15-19 and wrestled UT-Chattanooga the same day, winning 22-10. Illinois will be Tiger Style's second dual and first non-ranked team it will wrestle.
The dual will be special just like last years dual in Kansas City in that Tiger Style senior Connor Flynn is a Francis Howell alum and will be competing once again in his high school gym, this time in front of a sold-out audience. Flynn also just won the West Division Wrestler of the Week in the MAC after his dominant 12-1 major decision over Cody Hughes and a tournament title at the Southeast Open, going 4-0. Below is Mizzou's projected lineup for Thursday:
