
Mizzou Tennis Sweeps Doubles Action, Earns Two Singles Victories at FIU Invitational

Wright and Oliveira begin the invite with perfect 2-0 marks
MIAMI, Fla. – Mizzou Tennis opened the FIU International in Miami, Fla., on Friday with a three-match sweep in doubles action and two singles victories. Junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and junior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) each provided two victories on the day for Mizzou.
DOUBLES
Mizzou earned three wins to start the day in double action. The teams of Wright and sophomore Lisa Fukutoku (Tokyo, Japan) and sophomore Vivien Abraham (Budapest, Hungary) and Oliveira each earned 6-2 wins. The duo of senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) claimed a 7-6 win over Kamila Umarova and Basak Akbas.
SINGLES
In singles competition, Wright earned a straight-sets win, 6-3, 6-3 win over Evelyne Tiron (South Florida), while Oliveira won 6-2, 7-6 (5) over South Florida's Lucia Garrigues.
UP NEXT
Mizzou continues with the second day of competition at the FIU Invitational on Saturday. Doubles action is slated to start at 8:00 a.m. CT, followed by singles competition at 11:00 a.m. CT.
