Garrett's two INTs key another dominant defensive performance
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football extended its winning streak to four games with a 42-10 win over Troy, Saturday at Memorial Stadium. With the win, Mizzou moves to 4-1 on the season while Troy drops to 2-3. Mizzou will wrap up its five-game homestand next weekend with homecoming, as the Tigers host Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Memorial Stadium, at 6 p.m. CT.

A Quick Recap
After a game-opening touchdown drive from Troy, Mizzou took control of the game, scoring 42 unanswered points to take a 42-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. The onslaught began with a five-play, 55 yard scoring drive that resulted in a one-yard touchdown run from junior RB Larry Rountree III, his fifth TD of the season. Sophomore WR Kam Scott provided the big play to set up Mizzou's first score, as he nearly took his first catch to the house, resulting in a 49-yard reception down to the two-yard line. On Mizzou's next drive, senior QB Kelly Bryant gave the Tigers the lead for the first time in the game, as he scrambled in for a three-yard score to finish a 10-play 85-yard drive.
After a quick three-and-out from Mizzou's defensive, the Tigers struck quick on its next drive, as Bryant found RS senior Jonathan Nance for a 64-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown.
Mizzou's defense shined in the second quarter, as senior LB Cale Garrett recorded two interceptions, giving him three on the season. Garrett returned his first interception to the one yard line, and two plays later Bryant found RS junior Albert Okwuegbunam for his 22nd-career TD, tying him for second all-time in Mizzou history.
Garrett wouldn't be stopped short on his second pick, as he returned his sixth career INT all the way to the end zone for his third touchdown in as many weeks. With the score, Garrett matches Erik McMillan (1987) as the only players in Mizzou history with three defensive touchdowns in one season. It was also the fourth-consecutive week Mizzou scored a defensive touchdown, the first time since 2007-08 Mizzou has scored touchdowns in four straight games. Mizzou would add one more score before halftime, as Bryant found sophomore WR Jalen Knox for a six-yard score right before the half, making the score 42-7.
