Mizzou Tennis Finishes Competition at ITA Central Recap

Mizzou wins six total matches in Norman
NORMAN, Okla. – The Mizzou Tennis team won a total of five singles matches and one doubles match during the 2019 ITA Central Region Championship Saturday at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Three Tigers, senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and juniors Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) and Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) advanced to the round of 64 in the singles draw. Nash and Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) advanced to the round of 32 in the doubles draw.
SINGLES
Nash, Oliveira and Wright picked up wins in the first round of the singles draw. Nash earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Natsumi Kurahashi of Wichita State, while Oliveira easily defeated Nebraska-Omaha's Lillian Tiemeyer, 6-2, 6-0. Ellie Wright defeated Bradley's Sandra Maletin 7-5, 6-3. The three Tigers advanced to the round of 64, where they each suffered defeats.
DOUBLES
Nash and Goldin defeated Ines Mesquita and Karine-Marion Job of Kansas St. 8-5. They suffered a defeat in the next round to Minnesota's Tiffany Huber and Tina Kreinis.
UP NEXT
Mizzou will next compete at the Florida Invitational University Invite at the FIU Tennis Complex in Miami, Fla., beginning on Nov. 1.
