LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mizzou Soccer (7-7-1, 1-5-1 SEC) scored on some trickery, but was unable to leave Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Stadium with a win. The Tigers fell to Kentucky (6-8-2, 1-6 SEC) on Friday night.
Mizzou faced a two-goal deficit after the Wildcats scored in the 30' and 52' minutes.
TURNING POINT
- In the 64' minute, Kentucky was called for a handball in their own box, setting up a penalty kick attempt for Mizzou.
- Grace Kitts (Leawood, Kan.) stepped up to take the penalty kick attempt, but only tapped the ball instead of attempting a complete shot.
- With the Wildcat keeper stepping up out of the net, Julissa Cisneros (Moreno Valley, Calif.) came streaking in to take a shot off Kitts' attempt, and fired a shot to the back of the net.
NOTEABLE
- Julissa Cisneros' goal was her seventh of the year, extending her career-best season.
- Cisneros now has 15 points on the season – giving Mizzou two players this season with more than 15-or-more points on the year (Sarah Luebbert- 17).
- Kentucky had nine corner kicks to the Tigers' six – Mizzou is 1-6 on the season when they have fewer corner kicks than the opposition.
TOP TIGERS
- Julissa Cisneros scored Mizzou's lone goal on the night, attempting two shots.
- Making the first appearance of her career, Gillian Schulte (Columbia, Mo.) made two saves on the night.
- The Mizzou backline of Anna Frick, Peyton Joseph, Bella Alessi and Momola Adesanmi played all 90 minutes of Friday's match.
UP NEXT
Mizzou will be off Sunday, before entering the penultimate week of the season. The Tigers will play twice next week – hosting Alabama (Oct. 24) and playing on the road at Texas A&M (Oct. 27).
