
Thompson Clocks Top 10 Time to Highlight Tiger Invite Action

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 16/21 Mizzou men's and women's swimming teams posted numerous season and career-best time Saturday and Sunday to conclude competition at the Tiger Invite, a meet held under the Sanction of Missouri Valley Swimming, Inc. on behalf of USA Swimming.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Sophomore Sarah Thompson (Collierville, Tenn.) led a Tiger contingent that won 16 events over the final two days of the meet.
Thompson's win in the 100 back on Saturday was a highlight of the entire meet, as she clocked a personal-best time of 51.66, which ranks her ninth nationally in the event and fourth all-time at Mizzou. Before the Tiger Invite, Thompson's career-best was 52.31 set at the Mizzou Invite in 2018.
In the women's 100 breast, junior Haley Hynes (Lee's Summit, Mo.) won her second event of the weekend with a 1:01.66, which puts her sixth all-time in program history.
Senior Anthony Ashley (Houston, Texas), added two more wins to his one from Friday to notch a team-best three titles at the Tiger Invite. Ashley earned top honors in the 400 IM (1:48.46) and 200 back (1:46.79), as well as Friday's win in the 400 IM.
Also claiming multiple wins were senior Mikel Schreuders (Oranjestad, Aruba) and sophomore Devan Sweeney (Snellville, Ga.). Schreuders added the men's 100 breast title after a swim of 53.68 to his win in the 50 free, and Sweeney, who won the 400 IM on Friday, placed first in the women's 100 fly on Saturday in 54.70.
Other Saturday and Sunday winners included seniors Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.) in the women's 200 back, Iliana Jones (Casper, Wyo.) in the women's 100 free and Griffin Schaetzle (Erie, Pa.) in the men's 100 back, juniors Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.) in the men's 100 fly, Azra Avdic (Skokie, Ill.) in the women's 100 fly, Giovanni Gutierrez Lozano (Lima, Peru) in the men's 200 fly and Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) in the men's 100 free, sophomores Caleb Rhodenbaugh (Columbia, Mo.) in the men's 200 breast and Amanda Smith (Dry Ridge, Ky.) in the women's 200 IM and freshman CJ Kovac (Fort Collins, Colo.) in the women's 200 breast.
