COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis recorded seven wins on the second day of competition at the Mizzou Invite, including a perfect 3-0 day for senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England).
The four-team invitational saw morning doubles competition between Mizzou and Houston, SMU and Tulsa, Mizzou and Tulsa and SMU and Houston, while the afternoon saw singles competition between Mizzou and SMU and Tulsa and Houston.
DOUBLES
In doubles competition, the Mizzou team of senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) and Nash earned two victories in as many matches. The duo started the day with a 6-3 win over Houston's Elena Tairyan and Mimi Kendall-Woseley, then followed that performance with a 6-4 win over Tulsa's Laia Conde Monfrot & Megan Hopton.
Mizzou's third win in doubles competition came from sophomore Lisa Fukutoku (Tokyo, Japan) and junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.), who defeated Houston's Ndindi Ndunda & Azul Pedemonti, 7-5. After winning two matches on Friday, the pair finished doubles competition 3-1 at the tournament.
SINGLES
Mizzou posted an impressive performance in singles competition against SMU, as Mizzou won four of five matches played. Nash (6-1, 6-4 over Sarai Monarrez Yesaki) and Fukutoku (7-5, 6-4 over Nicole Petchey) won in straight sets, while Wright and sophomore Viven Abraham all came back from losing first sets to win third-set tiebreakers for their victories. With the singles victories, Nash was a perfect 3-0 on the day.

"I was very proud of the overall fight the girls showed today," said head coach Colt Gaston. "I thought we did a great job overall of continuing to play the big points well and I look forward to building on that tomorrow."
UP NEXT
Mizzou will finish up with the third day of competition at the Mizzou Invite on Sunday, as the Tigers are set to face Tulsa in singles competition at 9:00 a.m. CT. This is a change from the original schedule where Mizzou was slated to play at 11:00 a.m. CT.
