LOS ANGELES – Mizzou Softball sophomore OF Brooke Wilmes and redshirt senior P Madi Norman received 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Southeast All-Region honors, announced Thursday by the organization.
In all, 392 total student-athletes from 163 programs garnered 2019 NFCA All-Region accolades. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2019 NFCA Division I All-American squads.

Wilmes tallied Second-Team All-Region recognition in the outfield, while Norman received Third-Team All-Region honors in the circle. The duo each produced their first career All-Region awards, while becoming Mizzou Softball's 14th and 15th all-time NFCA Southeast All-Region honorees since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2013.
Wilmes was the engine that powered Mizzou's offense all season long, leading the team in hits (61), doubles (16), triples (2) and batting average (.355). The sophomore outfielder was often at her best when it mattered most, keying huge wins all season, including against Kentucky and South Carolina, where the winning runs were scored off her bat. Additionally, Wilmes proved to be one of the most difficult batters in the country to strike out, as she only went down in the box once every 34.4 at bats, the 11th-best mark in the nation. The Johnston, Iowa, native also proved her versatility this season, making the switch from the infield to the outfield without missing a beat. Her fielding percentage was perfect (1.000) after the midseason change.
Wilmes was tabbed First-Team All-SEC earlier this month, marking her first career postseason honor by the league office, while marking Mizzou's first First-Teamer since 2016.
Norman, meanwhile, has enjoyed a career year under the tutelage of coach Larissa Anderson. Norman's Third-Team Regional nod is her first postseason honor ever, following a season in which she led the way for Mizzou in the circle, tallying 17 wins, the most by a Mizzou pitcher since 2016. Norman has also notched 132 strikeouts so far this year, by far the most in her career, and the most by a Tiger hurler since Paige Lowary had 151 back in 2016.
With the honor, Norman becomes one of just three Mizzou pitchers ever to be named to an All-Southeast Regional team, joining Mizzou legends Tori Finucane (2014) and Chelsea Thomas (2013).
