@MIZ_TrackField Opens up Competition at Drake Relays

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field opened competition at the Drake Relays on Thursday, as six Tigers took the track at the Blue Oval for the distance carnival. Redshirt junior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) posted a top-10 mark for the second consecutive meet, as he posted a personal record in the 5000m run.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field opened competition at the Drake Relays on Thursday, as six Tigers took the track at the Blue Oval for the distance carnival. Redshirt junior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) posted a top-10 mark for the second consecutive meet, as he posted a personal record in the 5000m run.

NOTABLE FINISHES

George finished sixth in the 5000m run, as the Tiger junior crossed the finish line at 14:09.53, moving up one spot on the Mizzou all-time list to No. 7. George recently joined the Mizzou top-10 list in the event in his last performance, as he bested his time of 14:10.37 at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 18).

For the women, redshirt junior Jordyn Kleve (Urbandale, Iowa) also posted a personal record time in the 5000m run, as she finished eighth at 16:48.81. Kleve bested her previous personal record by nearly 10 seconds, as she posted a time of 16:58.26 at last year's Drake Relays.

UP NEXT

Mizzou will continue with the second day of the Drake Relays on Friday, as track events are slated to begin at 8:50 a.m. CT and field events at 10:00 a.m. CT.
