
@MizzouMensGolf Places Third at Northern Intercollegiate

The Tigers now have five consecutive Top-5 finishes in regular season tournaments
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. –Mizzou Men's Golf earned its fifth consecutive Top-5 finish in a regular season tournament dating back to March 16 of last season, placing third overall at the 2018 Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Mizzou shot a 15-over-par 879, finishing just five strokes behind first-place Marquette. The Tigers bested Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and host Northern Illinois among other schools at the Northern Intercollegiate, en route to their third-place finish.
Sophomore Jamie Stewart (Renfrewshire, Scotland) captured his seventh career Top-20 finish, tying for 16th individually to lead the Tigers at the Northern Intercollegiate. Stewart wrapped up the tournament at 4-over-par (220). The sophomore finished with a total of 11 birdies.
Senior captain Luigi Botta (Cuneo, Italy) put together a strong performance, carding a 5-over par 221 to tie for 23rd overall. He now has five career Top-25 finishes and his first since the Auburn Invitational on March 6. The senior started off strong with a 2-under-par 70 and carded a total of nine birdies for the tournament.
Junior Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) finished in the third spot for the Tigers with a tournament total of 7-over-par 223. In his first 18 holes at the Northern Intercollegiate, Franssen shot a season-low round of 69.
Rounding out the scoring for Mizzou was senior Matt Echelmeier (Columbia, Mo.), who battled back with a 73 and 71 in his final two rounds to put him at a tournament total of 10-over-par 226.
