#ShowMe Mizzou Game Notes
Tigers Produce Perfect Home-Opening Weekend
- Mizzou treated Tiger fans to an entertaining 2018 home-opening weekend (March 2-4), winning all six games played over a three-day stretch inside Mizzou Softball Stadium. The Tigers' current six-game winning streak is a 2018 season-high, as they enter this weekend's Southeastern Conference opener winners of 12 of their past 14 games overall.
- Mizzou roughed up the Southeastern Louisiana, Creighton and Drake pitching staffs last weekend, collectively hitting .351 (54- for-154) with 47 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 43 RBI. The Tigers also added 12 stolen bases on 13 attempts and recorded an impressive .420 on-base percentage, .623 slugging percentage and 1.043 OPS.
Sanchez Maintains NCAA and SEC Elite Hitter Status
- Individually, seven different Tigers recorded a .300-plus batting average at the Mizzou Tournament, led once again by redshirt junior Amanda Sanchez. The West Covina, California, native has been one of the NCAA and SEC's top hitters through the first month of play.
- Nationally, Sanchez ranks second in hits (35), third in total bases (64), sixth in on-base percentage (.635), eighth in average (.547), eighth in slugging percentage (1.000), ninth in doubles (eight) and 11th in home runs (seven).
- Within the SEC individual rankings, Sanchez ranks first in the premier conference in batting average, hits, home runs, slugging percentage and total bases.
Wilmes Continues to Impress in First-Year Campaign
- Freshman Brooke Wilmes continues to match Sanchez in offensive production the past three weekends, as she hit .500 (10-for-20) with eight runs scored, four doubles, one triple, one home run and 11 RBI at last weekend's Mizzou Tournament in Columbia, Missouri.
- Wilmes' hot stretch of late is even more incredible when you consider she began the 2018 season in an 0-for-14 slump. Over her past 14 games played, the Johnston, Iowa, native has hit .524 with 16 runs scored, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and 17 RBI. She's also tacked on eight multi-hit and five multi-RBI games over that impressive stretch.
Tiger Pitching Staff Delivers Season's Best Performance at Mizzou Tournament
- In the circle at the Mizzou Tournament, the Tiger pitching staff quietly produced their best weekend stretch so far this season. Redshirt junior Madi Norman, freshman Lauren Rice and sophomore Eli Daniel each went 2-0 while posting strong ERA totals.
- Norman led the way with an 0.64 ERA over 11.0 IP and limiting opposing hitters to just a .132 average. The Tipton, Missouri, native enters SEC play on a high note, as she's allowed only 1 ER over her past 15.0 IP.
