Senior Night for @MizzouHoops Puts Tigers Against Arkansas on Saturday

Tigers and Razorbacks tip off at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday on ESPN2

Mizzou Men's Basketball (19-11, 9-8) returns home for its regular season finale at Mizzou Arena, hosting Arkansas (21-9, 10-7) on Saturday, March 3, for the Tigers' Senior Night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT, with live coverage on ESPN2 and the Tiger Radio Network.

STORY LINES

  • Mizzou's 74-66 win at Vanderbilt (Feb. 27) was the Tigers' fifth true road win of the season -- the program's most since winning seven away games during the 2011-12 campaign.
  • Head coach Cuonzo Martin's 19 wins are the second-most ever for a first-year Mizzou coach.
  • It went down to the wire in Fayetteville, Arkansas, during the first meeting between the Tigers and Razorbacks earlier this season (Jan. 13). Mizzou snuck ahead by as many as six points with under five minutes to go, but could not finish off the home team, dropping a 65-63 result. Graduate senior Kassius Robertson scored 26 points in his first go-around with the Razorbacks.
  • Robertson ranks No. 1 in SEC games in three-point FG shooting (.452) after starting his career at the only school to offer him a D-I scholarship, Canisius, of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Canisius has an enrollment of 3,171, while Mizzou's enrollment is nearly 10 times larger (30,870).
  • Robertson is the nation's highest scoring graduate transfer at the high major level (as of Feb. 28), elevating his name into the conversation for postseason accolades with his 17.7 points per game in SEC play. Overall, Robertson ranks fourth in the country (Div. I) in scoring among all graduate transfers.
  • Mizzou (19-11) is the third-most improved team in the country, record-wise. North Carolina A&T is at 18-12 after going 3-29 last season, while UC Santa Barbara is 21-7 after a 6-22 mark in 2016-17.
  • Junior forward Kevin Puryear became the 46th member of Mizzou's 1,000-Point Club, scoring six points in the win at Vanderbilt (Feb. 27) to eclipse the notable milestone. Puryear is the first Tiger to reach the mark since Jabari Brown in 2013-14.
  • Puryear's 1,000 points for his career come after standout freshman (355 points) and sophomore (376 points) campaigns for the Tigers. Puryear's freshman season total of 355 points were the sixth-most ever by a Tiger freshman.
  • Ten instances of a player hitting at least six three-pointers in a game have occurred in SEC play. Senior forward Jordan Barnett (2) and graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (2) have combined for four such games.
  • Robertson has played 94.2 percent of Mizzou's SEC slate, appearing in 650 of a possible 690 minutes.

KASH MONEY

  • Graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson has been one of the biggest surprises in the Southeastern Conference, and a welcomed one for Mizzou. The graduate transfer from Canisius is currently fifth in SEC games in points per game (17.7), first in three-point percentage (.452) and first in three-pointers per game (3.4).
  • His shooting proficiency all comes while playing the most minutes in the conference, averaging 38.2 minutes per game through 17 SEC games, thus far. That mark is two minutes more per game, on average, than the next closest SEC player (Kentucky's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, 36.1).
  • Robertson ranks sixth in SEC games for free throw percentage, converting 82.5 percent (66-of-80).
  • Robertson has eight 20-point games out of Mizzou's 17 conference games played, thus far.
  • Robertson has led Mizzou in scoring 16 times. In his previous three seasons at Canisius, Robertson led the Golden Griffins in scoring 20 times, combined.

JAMS WITH JONTAY

  • Freshman forward Jontay Porter's 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win at Vanderbilt (Feb. 27) were significant, in that a Mizzou freshman had not accomplished a 20-5-5 stat line since the 1998-99 season.
  • Previously, then-freshman standout Keyon Dooling went for 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists vs. Texas Tech on Feb. 4, 1999. Dooling went on to a 13-year NBA career (2000-13) after his sophomore season (1999-2000).
  • Porter recorded the third double-double of his freshman season in the win at Ole Miss (Feb. 6), scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
  • Porter had five blocks against the Rebels; the third time this season he has accomplished that feat. Dating back to 1974-75, no other Tiger has had three five-block games in a season.
  • Porter's 52 blocks rank as second-most by a freshman Tiger through the first 30 games of a season. Freshman single-season record holder Arthur Johnson had 65 blocks in 2000-01 with 63 through 30 contests. The 52 total for Porter ranks eighth-best all-time on Mizzou's single-season list.

BARNETT HAS SOME BOUNCE

  • Senior forward Jordan Barnett has averaged 15.2 points per game over Mizzou's last six games, scoring in double-figures every time.
  • Barnett was huge in the second half at Vanderbilt (Feb. 27), scoring all 17 of his points after the break to help seal the Tigers' 74-66 win.
  • Barnett did not sub out of the Vanderbilt game at any point, playing all 40 minutes, and was tasked by head coach Cuonzo Martin with slowing down Vanderbilt's standout forward, Jeff Roberson, in the second half. Roberson led the Commodores with 13 points in the first half, but managed just six points after the break.
  • Earlier this season, Barnett put together an impressive 10-game stretch, averaging 19.7 points per game from Mizzou's win over St. John's (Nov. 24) to the Florida game (Jan. 6).
  • Barnett's 42.7-percent mark from three-point land in SEC games ranks sixth-best in the league. His 2.8 three-pointers made per SEC game ranks third.
  • Barnett's 88.5-percent mark from the free throw line this season currently stands tied for the fourth-best effort in school history.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS

  • Arkansas outlasted the Tigers in a tight contest in Fayetteville, Arkansas, edging Mizzou by a score of  65-63 (Jan. 13). The Razorbacks dropped their following SEC contest after the first Mizzou matchup at Florida (Jan. 17, 88-73), but regrouped and managed back-to-back wins over Ole Miss (Jan. 20, 97-93) and at Georgia (Jan. 23, 80-77).
  • The Razorbacks have won six of their last seven SEC games, including a sweep of the state of Alabama prior to Saturday's game in Columbia. Arkansas defeated the Crimson Tide on the road (Feb. 24, 76-73) and won at home vs. Auburn (Feb. 27, 91-82).
  • Arkansas has been led in scoring during league play by the senior duo of Jaylen Barford (18.5 PPG) and Daryl Macon (18.4 PPG).
  • Freshman forward Daniel Gafford has averaged 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.

SEC TOURNAMENT IN ST. LOUIS

  • For the first time ever, the Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be played west of the Mississippi River. St. Louis, Missouri, plays host to the 2018 edition of the event, at the Scottrade Center from March 7-11, 2018.
  • The Scottrade Center is a contemporary, 12-story glass and concrete structure located in the heart of downtown St. Louis. The home of the NHL's St. Louis Blues, the Scottrade Center also features a full range of arena programming, including concerts, ice shows, family shows and other sporting events. The Scottrade Center plays host to approximately 175 events per year, bringing nearly two million guests and ranking among the top arenas in the country.
  • The SEC Tournament will be carried on SEC Network and ESPN, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game on the main network.
  • The tournament, routinely in Nashville, Tennessee, deviates again to Tampa, Florida, in 2022.
