COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (18-9, 8-6) dropped a tightly contested game on the road Saturday, as the Tigers fell at LSU (15-11, 6-8) 64-63. On a day when Mizzou's three-pointer game was rolling, the efficiency from the free throw line and from two-point range did not follow. The Tigers sank a blistering 12-of-21 (57.1%) from deep, and made at least 10 three-pointers for the 16th time this season in the loss.
The Tigers were led by senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.), who had 18 points on six made shots from beyond the arc, which tied his career-high in made triples in a single game. Barnett has scored 10 or more points in three-straight contests. Graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) was also excellent from deep, hitting on 3-of-5 three-point attempts en route to a 14-point game.
TURNING POINT
With the Tigers down in crunch time, Mizzou again turned to the veteran duo of Robertson and Barnett. The two oldest players on Martin's roster went on a 5-0 run with just over two minutes to go, as Jordan Barnett hit his fifth three of the game, while Robertson converted two clutch free throws a possession later. The run gave Mizzou a one-point advantage. Â
However, LSU would respond as Tremont Waters hit a running layup with just over 20 seconds to go to take back the lead. Robertson came down looking for an answer, but was called for an offensive foul with 5.2 seconds remaining. The Black & Gold immediately stole the inbounds pass. The ball again wound up in Robertson's hands, but he missed a floater in the lane that would have given Mizzou its sixth-straight victory.
