COLUMBIA, MO. – The first set of Arnold Palmer Cup Rankings for 2019 have been released, and Mizzou Women's Golf standout Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) finds herself ranked 14th in the United States rankings, which puts her squarely in the mix to qualify for the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup competition this coming summer.
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style competition featuring the top men's and women's collegiate golfers matching the United States against a team of international players. The 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup will be contested at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark., June 7-9.
The top six ranked golfers in the final set of standings this spring will automatically qualify for the team, with six others being selected by committee and coaches. The next Palmer Cup rankings will be announced on February 13. For more information about the Palmer Cup, please visit www.arnoldpalmercup.com.
Yuen has established herself as one of the top golfers in the Southeastern Conference, and the junior is coming off an outstanding fall season that saw her ranked 39th individually in the NCAA with a stroke average of 71.52. She posted four top-10 finishes in five starts this fall, including top-three showings in her last three tournaments. In the spring of 2018, Yuen became only the second Mizzou Women's golfer to individually qualify for the NCAA Championships, where she eventually tied for 57th (a program record-high finish).
Mizzou finished the fall season ranked 51st in the last Golfstat team rankings. They will begin their push for the 2019 post-season when the spring season begins Feb. 16 at the Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Ga.
