SURPRISE, Ariz.- Mizzou tennis' doubles team of junior Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and sophomore Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) concluded competition at the prestigious 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Thursday night at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
Playing in the consolation doubles bracket, Middlebrooks and Wright fell to Kansas' Nina Khmeltickaia and Janet Koch, 6-3, 6-3. The Jayhawk duo entered the tournament seeded fifth before losing in their first round match.
The Tiger team of Middlebrooks and Wright conclude the fall season with a 9-4 record and a run to the championship match of the ITA Central Region Championship. They own a 27-10 overall record together over the last two seasons.
Additionally, Wright and Middlebrooks are only the second Mizzouu doubles team to ever qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships, which replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships last season, as former Tigers Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova earned selections in 2001 and 2002.

Mizzou Head Coach Colt Gaston
"We didn't get off to the start we wanted to but a lot of credit goes to Kansas for playing a very solid match. Mackenzy and Ellie competed hard and learned a lot from this tournament. Overall there were a lot of positives to take out of our matches and we look forward to building on those to get ready for the upcoming dual season."
