COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former Mizzou Wrestling standout and Olympic and World bronze medalist J'den Cox (Columbia, Mo.) is set to compete at the Senior World Championships from October 20-28, in Budapest, Hungary. Cox will be competing as a part of USA Wrestling's Men's Freestyle roster and will compete in the newly created 92kg weight class.

Shortly after Cox earned his bronze medal at the World Championships in Paris last year, United World Wrestling announced the addition of the 92kg weight class. While training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in the offseason, Cox transitioned up to 92kg, from his previous 86kg. Although it is not an Olympic weight class, the group that is slated to compete at the World Championships consists of four past Olympic medalists, promising high competition. No. 4 seeded Sharif Sharifov (Azerbaijan), who won a bronze medal at 86kg at the World Championships in 2016, is scheduled to compete, along with No. 3 seeded Serdar Boke of Turkey.

The first round of competition for the 92kg weight class is schedule to begin at 3:30 a.m. (CT) on Sunday, October 21. The semifinals will follow shortly after, beginning at 10:45 a.m. (CT). Finals are scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) on Monday, October 22, with repechage rounds at 3:30 a.m. (CT).
