Jonesborough, Tennessee – Mizzou Men's Golf shot 7-under par as a team on Friday to open the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

Jonesborough, Tennessee – Mizzou Men's Golf shot 7-under par as a team on Friday to open the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Tigers' 281 was their second-best 18-hole team score of the fall campaign and puts them in fifth place after day one of the tournament hosted by East Tennessee State. Mizzou is currently ahead of No. 15 Penn State and No. 44 Virginia by 13 strokes and eight strokes, respectively.

Sophomore Jamie Stewart and senior Matt Echelmeier led Mizzou on Friday with a pair of 3-under par rounds. Stewart has now carded a 69 in three different rounds this season. He and Echelmeier are tied for 16th overall individually. Echelmeier racked up five birdies in his opening round, shooting a 4-under 32 on a strong back nine.

Following closely behind is junior Rory Franssen, who is tied for 22nd after firing a 2-under par 70 on Friday. Franssen got off to a strong start with three birdies on the front nine. He now has four under-par rounds this season.

Junior Ricky Sanders is tied for 40th at 1-over par and Jack Parker carded a 4-over par to sit tied for 60th. The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate continues Saturday with 18 holes. Mizzou is set to tee off at 9:20 a.m. CT paired with Louisville and UNC-Wilmington.
