COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's and Women's Basketball will host a free basketball clinic for area boys (K-6) and girls (K-8) on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Douglass Park in Columbia.

Located at 400 North Providence Road, Douglass Park, is one of Columbia's largest gathering places for local children. The Tigers will teach drills over the two-hour clinic (10 a.m.-Noon), as well as speak to participants in a Q&A forum.

"It's important for our programs to pour into the community and truly be a part of it," Men's Basketball head coach Cuonzo Martin said. "This clinic is a great opportunity for Mizzou fans right here in Columbia to interact with our student athletes and staff and we're looking forward to making an impact on our local youth."

"This is a very special event for both our men's and women's basketball programs," Women's Basketball coach Robin Pingeton said. "This community means so much to all of us and to have an opportunity to continue to build relationships and invest in young people's lives through a sport that we all love is pretty special."

Additionally, the two Mizzou programs will play contests with participants, hold prize give-a-ways and sign autographs following the completion of basketball drills.

Parents are reminded that NCAA recruiting rules disallow Mizzou's basketball programs from providing instruction to boys above the sixth grade and to girls above the eighth grade. Clinic participants can range from kindergarten to sixth grade for boys and from kindergarten to eighth grade for girls.

Walk-up registration runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Parents of participants are encouraged to print, sign and bring the waiver form prior to arrival. The form can be located here.
