NOTABLE TIGERS

In his first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor meet, Carter closed his junior campaign by finishing 22nd in the hammer throw with a mark of 62.21m (204-1) on his first throw of the event. Carter made considerable strides in the hammer throw in 2018, as nine of his 10 marks traveled at least 60 meters, including a throw of 64.55m (211-9) at the NCAA West Preliminary (May 24), which ranks third all-time in program history. Prior to this season, his previous-best mark was 42.85m (140-7). Carter placed in the top-five of the hammer throw in six meets this season, including a first-place finish at the Tom Botts Invitational (April 21) where he first entered the program's top-10 list at 64.18m (210-7), and a fifth-place finish at the Drake Relays (April 28) where he recorded a mark of 62.76m (205-11).

Liitmae's most notable finish on the first day of the decathlon competition came in the shot put, as the Estonian native posted a mark of 13.77m (45-2.25) to finish ninth and score 714 points. With five events remaining, Liitmae currently sits in 21st place with 3,622 points. Two of Liitmae's stronger events, the javelin and 1500m run, will take place Thursday as Liitmae looks to move up the leaderboard to close the event.
