COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colo.) of the Mizzou men's diving program was named the Southeastern Conference Male Diver of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 30). The honor was the second of Goodwin's career, as he also claimed Male Diver of the Week honors on Oct. 18, 2016.
Goodwin swept the springboard events in Mizzou's 130-91 win over Drury on Jan. 25 in the final dual meet of the season. He took top honors on 1-meter with a score of 346.50 and added a win on 3-meter after a tally of 368.40. The wins were his ninth and 10th of the 2017-18 season and the 18th and 19th of his Tiger career. The meet against Drury also marked the fourth time this season he swept both springboard events, as he also accomplished the feat against Missouri State and in the Mizzou Invite and the Show-Me Showdown. This year, Goodwin owns highs of 397.90 on 1-meter and 398.55 on 3-meter, both recorded during November's Mizzou Invite.
He is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier and claimed All-America honorable mention honors on platform as a freshman in 2015-16. He ranks fourth all-time at Mizzou on both 1-meter (397.90) and 3-meter (399.40) and fifth on platform (360.20).
Goodwin and the Tigers return to action at the 2018 SEC Championships, held Feb. 14-18 in College Station, Texas.
