
Mizzou Cross Country Heads to Stillwater for Cowboy Jamboree

30 Mizzou runners will run on Saturday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., will serve as the next competition for Mizzou Cross Country on Saturday. The women will begin the day for the Tigers at the OSU Cross Country Course in a 6k race at 9:15 a.m. (CT), followed by the men's 8k race, which will start at 9:45 a.m. (CT).
Mizzou will look to knock off opponents ranked ahead of them in Stillwater, as three ranked teams will each toe the line on the men's and women's side. Oklahoma State (No. 9), Ole Miss (No. 25) and Tulsa (No. 28) all will run in the men's race, while Penn State (No. 9), Ole Miss (No. 16) and Oklahoma State (No. 22) will run in the women's race. The Mizzou women enter the race ranked fourth in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings and are currently receiving votes in the National D-I Coaches Poll. The men are currently ranked ninth in the Midwest Regional Rankings.
For the women, 16 Tigers will run Saturday, including two who have already earned weekly Southeastern Conference honors already this season. NCAA National Champion senior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa), earned SEC Freshman of the Week and USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 18, and freshman Jenna Lutzow (Belvidere, Ill.), was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 5, and both will be in the field. Also running for Mizzou will be redshirt senior Megan Cunningham (Eureka, Mo.) and redshirt senior Kaitlyn Fischer (Pevely, Mo.), who finished second and third, respectively, for Mizzou at the Commodore Classic (Sept. 16).
On the men's side, Mizzou will be looking to improve on a seventh-place finish at the Commodore Classic (Sept. 16). Each of Mizzou's top eight finishers from Nashville will run again in Stillwater, including redshirt sophomore Thomas George (Gloucester, England), who finished first for Mizzou and 13th overall with an 8k personal-record time of 25:26.1. In total, 12 runners will toe the start line for the men.
Saturday's race will be the third of five meets for Mizzou before entering postseason competition. The Tigers will head south to Athens, Ga., for the SEC Championships on Oct. 27, north to Ames, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 10, and east to Louisville, Ky., for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18.
