Cunningham crossed the finish line with a time 21:07.0, shattering her previous 6k personal record of 21:59, which she set during the 2013 season at the Bradley Classic. Mizzou Head Coach Marc Burns
On the women's race…
"We competed hard today on both sides at Oklahoma State," said Mizzou Cross Country head coach Marc Burns. "Karissa got things rolling up front for us with another spectacular performance. I have not seen an official course record, but Coach Smith (Oklahoma State) does not remember anyone breaking 20 minutes before. Megan looked strong throughout the race and gave us another single digit stick. Jenna continues to learn and grow from meet to meet. We are very happy with our effort and it was nice to beat Oklahoma State on their home course."
On the men's race…
"I challenged our men's team after our performance at Vanderbilt and they responded with a gutsy performance today," said Burns. "Thomas and Marc led the way up front, then Evan, Zach and Justin ran in a tight pack most of the race. We work on pack running in workouts and it showed today as they battled the hills as a nice group. This is one of the toughest courses we will see up until the SEC meet in Georgia. It is a good sign that both teams looked strong today as the course at Georgia will be hilly as well. We made some significant progress today and it will only get better in the coming weeks."
UP NEXT
Mizzou will now head into its final weekend of regular season competition, as the team will split two separate ways for the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., on Oct. 13, and the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 14. After those two meets, the Tigers will head south to Athens, Ga., for the SEC Championships on Oct. 27, then north to Ames, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 10, and east to Louisville, Ky., for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18.
