Former @MizzouWBB Coach Dr. Joann Rutherford to be Inducted in to Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

Rutherford will be honored at the Women’s Sports Luncheon on March 30
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announced that it will soon induct former Mizzou Women's Basketball head coach Joann Rutherford. Along with other inductees, Rutherford will be honored at the fourth annual Women's Sports Luncheon presented by the Bee Payne-Stewart Foundation at 11 a.m. on March 30 at the University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield, Mo.
Rutherford is the winningest coach in the history of the Mizzou Women's Basketball program, amassing a 422-262 record at the helm of the Tigers. She coached Mizzou for 23 campaigns, posting 19 winning seasons along the way.
Rutherford guided Mizzou to six NCAA Tournament appearances and four WNIT appearances, highlighted by a Sweet 16 run in the 1982 NCAA Tournament. She helped Mizzou capture four Big Eight Conference regular season championships and five conference tournament titles.
Under her tutelage, Rutherford's Tigers were ranked in the Top 20 of the Final AP Top 25 poll four times, including a No. 11 ranking in 1984. She coached eight All-America honorees and was recognized as the Big Eight Coach of the Decade for the 1980s after boasting a 213-98 record over 10 seasons.
Rutherford was named an SEC legend in 2015 and is a class of 2007 member of the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame.
A sponsorship table of eight at the Women's Sports Luncheon is $400 and includes associate sponsor recognition in the printed program and an autographed print.
