COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (10-2, 0-0 SEC) was powered by its senior leadership, once again, as senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) and graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) combined to score 45 points in the Tigers' 82-81 win over Stephen F. Austin (10-2, 0-0 SLC) Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.
Robertson led the team in scoring for the for the fourth time this season with 23 points. The transfer from Canisius came up clutch in the game's final minute, as a Robertson steal sealed the game for the Tigers.
Barnett scored 22 points in the game, his seventh-straight game scoring at least 15 points. Barnett was fueled by a stellar shooting performance in the first half in which he scored 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, 3-of-4 marksmenship from beyond the three-point arc and a 6-of-6 night from the free throw line.
Turning Point
Mizzou set the tone early, as the Tigers caused Lumberjack turnovers on the first two possessions of the game. First, Barnett snagged a steal that led to a thunderous dunk from freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis, Ill.) on the offensive end thanks to a no-look pass from freshman guard Blake Harris (Chapel Hill, N.C.). Then, on the following possession, Harris forced a turnover and after an out-of-bounds play, took the ball coast to coast for a layup.
Barnett would later follow with a three-pointer to give Mizzou a 7-0 lead to start the game. Stephen F. Austin would tie the score twice in the first half and once in the second half, but Mizzou would never relinquish the lead in the game.
