Mizzou Assistant Coach Stephen Smith
"I'm proud of the effort each and every one of our student athletes put forth on the course today," said assistant coach Stephen Smith. "It was great to see Sophia get back on the course after a long time away battling injuries. She has worked hard to get back to where she is, and will continue to get better through training and competing. It was also good to see the exceptional effort from our mid-distance crew. The 6k and 8k is a bit out of their comfort zone, but you wouldn't be able to tell with how hard they were running at the end of the race."
