COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (5-12, 0-5) returns home to Columbia, Missouri, to host Ole Miss (11-7, 2-4) on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Mizzou Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network and the Tiger Radio Network. 

  • Since his insertion into Mizzou's starting lineup, junior forward Jordan Barnett is averaging 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Barnett ranks seventh in the SEC in rebounding with his 7.0 rebounds per game in league action. 
  • In conference play, sophomore guards Terrence Phillips and Jordan Geist are averaging 14.6 and 8.8 points per game, respectively.
  • Phillips ranks first in the SEC in assists per game during conference action, dishing 5.4 per game.
  • Mizzou was powered through its nonconference schedule by the strong play of sophomore forward Kevin Puryear. The Blue Springs, Mo., native led the Tigers with 12.5 points per game prior to conference action.
  • Mizzou's second annual #RallyForRhyan Game has been scheduled for the Tigers' game vs. Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 4.
  • Mizzou is once again cultivating a talented, but young roster during the 2016-17 season. According to KenPom.com, the Tigers rank 338th out of 351 NCAA Division I teams in terms of experience.

OPPONENT - OLE MISS

  • Ole Miss enters Mizzou Arena with a record of 11-7 and 2-4 in Southeastern Conference play. After starting the season 6-2, the Rebels have lost 4-fo-6 games.
  • Led by head coach Andy Kennedy, Ole Miss opened conference action with losses to Kentucky and Florida before defeating Auburn, 88-85, on Jan. 7. The Rebels fell to Georgia and South Carolina in its next two SEC contests, then defeated Tennessee most recently.
  • Ole Miss is led by junior guard Deandre Burnett, who is averaging 18.0 points per game while shooting 91.0 percent (111-of-122) from the free throw line. Three other Rebels are averaging double-figure scoring marks. Senior forward Sebastian Saiz is averaging 15.2 points per game, while sophomore guard Terence Davis is averaging 12.2 points per game and junior guard Cullen Neal is averaging 10.3 points per game.
  • Saiz is leading the team in rebounding with 11.6 rebounds per game, while junior forward Justas Furmanavicius is second on the team with 5.4 boards per game. Saiz leads the team in offensive rebounds with 53, while Furmanavicius is second on the team with 45.
  • Ole Miss is averaging 76.8 points and 40.3 rebounds per game through 18 contests, allowing 75.9 points and 36.6 rebounds per game to its opponents. Foes of the Rebels have shot 41.2 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from the three-point line.

PHILLIPS LEADING OFF BENCH

  • Mizzou sophomore guard Terrence Phillips (Orange County, Calif.) scored 16 points in 33 minutes off the bench at Alabama (Jan. 18) for his third game this season leading the Tigers in scoring. The team-leading effort was the second instance in the five-game span Phillips has come off the bench.
  • Since shifting to his bench role at the start of Southeastern Conference play, Phillips has played outstanding basketball, averaging 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.6 steals per game. 
  • Phillips' 5.4-assists-per-game is No. 1 in the SEC during league play. His 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio (27-13) ranks eighth in conference games, only.

HOME SWEET HOME

  • Mizzou played back-to-back Southeastern Conference road games with its trips to Arkansas (Jan. 14) and Alabama (Jan. 18), as part of three away contests out of the Tigers' opening five league games.
  • The Tigers return to Mizzou Arena for their game vs. Ole Miss on Saturday, Jan. 21, and will not spend two games away from their home court for the remainder of the season.

#RALLYFORRHYAN GAME ON FEB. 4

  • The second annual #RallyForRhyan Game will take place Saturday, Feb. 4, as the Tigers host Arkansas for a 5 p.m. CT tipoff at Mizzou Arena.
  • Named after Mizzou Men's Basketball coaching staff member Brad Loos' six-year old daughter, Rhyan, the #RallyForRhyan movement began in support of Rhyan's ongoing fight against pediatric cancer.
  • Last season's first-ever #RallyForRhyan Game raised more than $50,000 dollars towards pediatric cancer research, with a season-high 10,536 fans coming to Mizzou Arena to cheer on the Tigers and offer their support. 
  • The Black & Gold defeated Tennessee, 75-64, to make the first #RallyForRhyan Game (Feb. 13) even more special. Outgoing senior forward Ryan Rosburg scored 21 points in the win, followed by then-freshman forward Kevin Puryear's 17 points.

BARNETT MAKING AN IMPACT VS. SEC

  • Mizzou junior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) has come alive for the Tigers during Southeastern Conference action, leading the squad in both scoring (14.8) and rebounding (7.0). 
  • In conference play, Barnett has led Mizzou in scoring, rebounding or both in four of five games. In the Tigers' SEC opener vs. LSU (Jan. 4), Barnett led the way with 18 points and nine rebounds. At Arkansas (Jan. 14), he scored 14 points and tied with freshman Reed Nikko (Maple Grove, Minn.) for the team high in rebounds (6).
