SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mizzou Volleyball lost to No. 15 San Diego, 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 16-25) Saturday morning in its second match of the 2017 Utah Classic. Mizzou was up 23-20 in set one, but San Diego rattled off the next five points to claim the opening frame and completed the sweep two sets later. Mizzou falls to 4-5 on the year and 1-1 on the weekend.

Top Performers

• MB Alyssa Munlyn led Mizzou with 11 kills on .421 hitting Saturday. She also added three blocks and finished with a team-high 12.5 points.
• OH Kira Larson had nine digs to lead the Tigers in that category
• Senior S Courtney Eckenrode paced Mizzou with 28 assists.

Mizzou Takeaways

• Mizzou is now 0-2 on the year against ranked teams and will play another match against a top-20 team tonight against No. 18 Utah at 8 p.m. (CT).
• Mizzou was out-blocked on Saturday, 12-5.
• Mizzou actually had 17 more total attempts than San Diego, but 24 attack errors plagued the Tigers as San Diego had just 12.
• Mizzou hit just .124 while San Diego hit .302.

"I was disappointed in how we let that first set slip away and that really altered the entire match," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "These morning matches are tough to get everyone ready to go and we had a chance to jump on a top-25 team and get an early lead and let it slip away. Now we have to regroup and shift our focus to a very good Utah team that we will face tonight."
