FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa) won the mile run to highlight the day for Mizzou Track and Field at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday. Schweizer recorded a personal-record time of 4:35.61 in the race, which currently ranks as the second-fastest collegiate indoor time of the season. In all, Mizzou recorded eight top-10 finishes on the second day of competition in Fayetteville, while 10 athletes posted personal-records.
Schweizer, who also won the mile run at the Commodore Invitational on Jan. 14, surpassed her previous best time of 4:39.87, which she set at last year's Razorback Invitational. Her personal-record mark still ranks second among all-time program indoor mile marks, behind only Laura Roxberg's 2013 mark of 4:34.59.
Mizzou had three other athletes record personal records in the mile run, as senior Teylar Adelsberger (O'Fallon, Mo.) finished at 4:54.32 and senior Bianca Mello (Columbia, Mo.) finished at 5:11.89 for the women, while senior Luca Russo (Kent, England) finished ninth for the men at 4:07.97.
Senior LaQuisha Jackson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) posted the second top-10 all-time mark of the day for the Tigers, running a 54.20 in a fifth-place finish in the 400m dash. Jackson, who already held the third-fastest indoor 400m dash time in school history, improved her previous best time by .20 seconds. For the men, sophomore Kahmari Montgomery (Planfield, Ill.) finished fifth in the 400m dash invitational heat, crossing the finish line at 46.57.
In the 3,000m race, three set personal records as senior Drew White (Crystal City, Mo.) shaved 26 seconds off of his previous best mark, finishing 12th at 8:17.31. Redshirt junior Marc Dubrick (DeKalb, Ill.) finished at 8:21.64 and redshirt freshman Jordyn Kleve (Urbandale, Iowa) finished at 9:50.76.
In the field events, redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) recorded the highest finish of the day, posting a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.52m (47-7.75).
The Tigers will take the next week off before returning to action the following week when the team splits and will either head to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 10-11 or back to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 10-11.
