NASHVILLE, Tenn. – At the opening day of the Commodore Invitational, three Tigers set personal records for Mizzou Track and Field on Friday in Nashville, Tenn. In addition, each of Mizzou's 4000m distance medley relay teams finished third to highlight a successful opening day at the meet.
In the 200m dash, Mizzou's tandem of senior LaQuisha Jackson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) finished 11th and 14th, respectively. Jackson crossed the finish line at 24.34, while Cody finished with a personal record time of 24.55, surpassing her previous best time of 24.56, set at the Husker Invitational on Feb. 5, 2016. Entering the meet, Cody already held the third fastest 200m indoor time in school history, and maintained that spot in the record book with Friday's performance.
Redshirt junior Emma Vickers (Kansas City, Kan.) also recorded a personal record in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 26.61.
For the men, sophomore Kahmari Montgomery (Plainfield, Ill.) registered the highest individual finish on the day for Mizzou, finishing fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.52. The men's 200m dash field proved to be one of the toughest of the day, as .30 separated first and fifth place.
Both of Mizzou's 4000m distance medley team's finished third as the women finished at 12:00.22 and the men at 10:08.88. The men's team sat around fifth place for the majority of the race before redshirt junior Ben Goodman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) passed two runners down the final stretch to capture third place.
In the field events, sophomore Karissa Roman (Kewanee, Ill.) posted the highest placing, finishing seventh in the high jump by clearing 1.66m (5-5.25), while redshirt junior Sean Harrell (Springfield, Mo.) posted a personal record in the weight throw with a throw of 15.86m (52-0.50).
Day two of the Commodore Invitational continues on Saturday, beginning with field events at 10:30 a.m. (CT). Track events are slated to begin at 1 p.m. (CT).
