COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Women's Basketball plays its fifth game away from home this season when the Tigers face IUPUI in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Tip from The Jungle is set for 1 p.m. CT.
- Mizzou and IUPUI have met just once in their program histories, with the lone matchup occurring in 2003.
- IUPUI will be the second Summit League opponent Mizzou has faced this week alone. The Tigers beat a stingy Western Illinois team, 71-68, on Tuesday at Mizzou Arena
- Mizzou is 12-4 all-time against Summit League opponents, with the last loss coming in 2008 to South Dakota State.
- Despite having only two true forwards see significant playing time so far this season, Mizzou has either outrebounded opponents or tied opponents on the glass in seven of its eight games. The Tigers are 6-1 in those contests.
- Mizzou has out-shot opponents from the floor in all eight games this season. The Tigers' stout defense is limiting teams to just 32.5 percent shooting. Only 17 programs in the country are holding opponents to sub-33 percent shooting from the floor. Mizzou ranks 13th in the nation in field goal percentage defense.
FREE THROW DOMINANCE
- Following a 19-of-22 performance from the foul line against Missouri State, Mizzou ranks 12th in the nation in free throw percentage as a team so far this season as the Tigers are shooting 79.6 percent from the line. That percentage currently tops the Southeastern Conference. Mizzou also leads the league in free throws made despite ranking seventh in free throws attempted.
- After averaging 13.7 made free throws per game last season, Mizzou is up to 16.1 made free throws per game through seven games in 2016-17.
- Mizzou is one of 10 teams in the nation that have made at least 125 free throws this season and one of eight teams to do so in just eight games or less.
- Mizzou has put together the two-best single-game performances from the free throw line as a team in the Southeastern Conference and three of the top six.
- Mizzou's 27-of-28 performance from the free throw line against Indiana State matches the third-best FT percentage in school history (min. 10 attempts) – the only two performances that were better are a 21-for-21 mark against Oklahoma in 2004 (a 77-65 win) and a 10-for-10 performance against North Florida in 2011 (a 67-46 win).
- Two of the top three single game FT performances have now come in the Robin Pingeton era.
400
- In Friday's game against Missouri State, Doty lofted a beautiful full-court pass to a streaking Sophie Cunningham, who finished a layup in transition. That pass gave Doty her 400th career assist. Doty is just the third Tiger to ever reach that mark and the first player to do so since Kerensa Barr in 2003.
- Through eight games, redshirt senior point guard Lianna Doty is averaging 3.5 assists per game, which ranks 14th in the SEC.
- With 401 career assists, Doty tops active SEC players in career dimes. She has 75 more assists than any other active SEC player.
SCOUTING IUPUI
- After dropping its season-opener, IUPUI has rattled off five consecutive wins to get out to a strong 5-1 start.
- The Jaguars share a common opponent with Mizzou in Indiana State. IUPUI outlasted the Sycamores in a defensive battle, 45-35, while Mizzou trounced Indiana State, 77-48 on Nov. 22.
- The Jaguars have three players averaging more than 12 points per game, led by 6-foot-2 senior center Mikale Rogers. Rogers is averaging 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
- IUPUI is strong defensively, limiting opponents to just 57.0 points per contest and 31.9-percent shooting from beyond the arc so far this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou downed Missouri State, 73-49, behind a high-octane offense on Friday at Mizzou Arena. Mizzou (6-2) capitalized on timely three-point shooting and second half dominance in the paint and on the free throw line to secure a win over the Lady Bears.
- Sophomore Sophie Cunningham racked up a team-high 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists. She is the only Mizzou player this year to put up at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in a single game, reaching those marks for the third consecutive contest. Cunningham's 22 points were a season-high as she recorded the 11th 20-point performance of her career.
- Redshirt senior Lindsey Cunningham poured in a season-high 13 points tonight to go along with a season-high three steals. She also matched her career high for three-pointers made in a game with three treys.
