Chadwick Earns Three Medals at FINA World Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three current and former members of the Mizzou men's swimming team concluded competition at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) this weekend at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina), junior Jordy Groters (Oranjestad, Aruba) and former Tiger Mack Darragh all represented their home countries at the meet.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three current and former members of the Mizzou men's swimming team concluded competition at the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) this weekend at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina), junior Jordy Groters (Oranjestad, Aruba) and former Tiger Mack Darragh all represented their home countries at the meet.

Competing for Team USA, Chadwick took home three relay medals and posted two individual top-16 finishes in Windsor. The senior anchored the U.S.'s mixed 4x50m medley relay and brought the team back from seventh-place to first and claim the gold medal in a meet record time of 1:37.22. Also on the relay were Olympic gold medalists Lilly King, Tom Shields and Kelsi Worrell. Additionally, Chadwick earned a silver on the men's 4x50m free relay team and a bronze with the men's 4x100m free relay squad.

Individually, Chadwick advanced to the semifinals in both the men's 50m and 100m free and placed tied for ninth and 16th respectively.

Groters and Darragh represented their home nations of Aruba and Canada, respectively. Groters competed in six different individual events, the 50m breast, 50m fly, 100m breast, 100m fly, 100m IM and 200 breast. He placed 30th overall in the 200m breast and 31st in the 100m IM. Darragh earned an 18th-place finish in the 200 fly and helped Canada to 10th-place finishes in both the men's 4x50m and 4x100m medley relays.
