Flynn and Hosford Capture Titles at Joe Parisi Open

Five Tigers finish in the top-3 of their respective weight class
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – At the Joe Parisi Open on Saturday, five from Mizzou Wrestling registered top-three finishes, led by sophomore 165-pounder Connor Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and freshman 157-pounder Sean Hosford (Kansas City, Mo.), who each captured titles in their respective weight classes.
For the second straight tournament, Flynn won the 165-pound weight class, defeating five opponents en route to his first-place finish. Flynn recorded a technical fall, fall and major decision in his first three bouts before defeating a pair of Iowa wrestlers in the semifinals and finals. Flynn first defeated Logan Ryan, 4-2, then Kaleb Young, 3-2, in the first place match. Wrestling in the 157-pound black (freshman and sophomore) division, Hosford went 4-0 in the tournament, scoring bonus points in three bouts. The Tiger freshman defeated Alex Nelson (NE Oklahoma A&M) in the finals by way of a major decision, 12-1.
Other Tigers to finish in the top-three at the tournament included redshirt junior 125-pounder Aaron Assad (Brecksville, Ohio), redshirt sophomore 133-pounder John Erneste (Kansas City, Mo.) and sophomore 157-pounder Luke Fortuna (Glen Ellyn, Ill.). Assad and Erneste finished second, while Fortuna placed third.
