- The Missouri Tigers (3-8 overall, 1-6 in Southeastern Conference play) wrap up the 2016 season this Friday afternoon as they play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks (7-4, 3-4). The game, which pits permanent cross-division rivals, is known as the Battle Line Rivalry Presented by Shelter Insurance, and it will kick from Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium at 1:30 p.m. central time. The game is Mizzou's annual Blackout contest, as all fans are encouraged to wear black.
- Mizzou is looking to put a favorable end to what's been a challenging season in Head Coach Barry Odom's first year at the helm. Two weeks ago at home, Odom's troops ended a five-game losing streak with a workmanlike 26-17 win over Vanderbilt. The Tigers then played at #19 Tennessee last Saturday, and went toe-to-toe with the Volunteers, trailing just 35-30 early in the fourth quarter, before UT scored 28 points in the final period to pull away for a 63-37 win that was closer than the margin indicated. Mizzou's offense went beast mode, amassing 740 yards of offense (MU's most ever against an FBS opponent, and just four shy of its alltime record), but four Mizzou turnovers, combined with big plays by the Tennessee offense, did too much damage. Tennessee scored five touchdowns of 30 yards or longer on the day, including passing scores of 49 and 57 yards, scoring rushes of 30 and 70 yards, and a pick-six interception return score of 59 yards. The Vols ended with 609 yards of their own on the day, as the teams combined for 1,349 yards of offense.
- Arkansas comes into Friday's game fresh off a 58-42 win at Mississippi State that featured 1,194 combined yards of offense (661 by Arkansas, 533 for MSU). The Razorbacks ran wild, going for 357 rushing yards and 5 TDs on the ground, while going to the air for 3 scores and 304 yards. The Razorbacks started their season 3-0, and are 4-4 since, alternating wins and losses every week since a 42-3 win over Texas State on Sept. 17.
SENIOR SENDOFF
- Mizzou will honor its 16 seniors this Friday in the annual Battle Line Rivalry Presented by Shelter Insurance. Mizzou's senior class has been the part of two SEC East Championship teams and won a pair of January Bowl Games - the 2014 Cotton Bowl and the 2015 Citrus Bowl - while winning 28 games over the last four years.
- Additionally, 10 Mizzou seniors played this season after having already earned their undergraduate degrees with the other six all expected to graduate by May, 2017. Below is a look at Mizzou's 2016 senior class and the field of study that each has earned their degree or will earn their degree.
