Mizzou Men's Golf has gone near and far for future student-athletes for its 2017 recruiting class, with head coach Mark Leroux welcoming Jack Parker of Columbia, Missouri, and Jamie Stewart of Renfrewshire, Scotland, to the program.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Golf has gone near and far for future student-athletes for its 2017 recruiting class, with head coach Mark Leroux welcoming Jack Parker of Columbia, Missouri, and Jamie Stewart of Renfrewshire, Scotland, to the program.

"It's always great for the Mizzou Men's Golf program to bring in outstanding local student-athletes, while continuing our strong international pipeline," Leroux said. "Both Jack and Jamie bring great technical ability to our clubhouse, while also carrying on our commitment to the total student-athlete experience at the University of Missouri."

Parker, currently the No. 1-ranked player in the state of Missouri by the Junior Golf Scoreboard, claimed his second state individual title by four strokes as a junior in 2016, with a two-round 141 earning him the MSHSAA Class 2 Championship for Father Tolton Catholic High School. He was the MSHSAA Class 1 title winner as a freshman in 2014. Parker was stout as a sophomore in Tolton's move to Class 2, claiming a fourth-place finish at the state tournament in 2015.

Stewart, a standout on the Scottish youth golf scene, has been a member of the Great Britain & Ireland youth team and tied for third at the 2016 European Boys Championship (July 9). In 2015, he won the Scottish Under-16 Golf Championship with a 15-under-par tournament score. A longtime friend of current Mizzou freshman Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland), Stewart has starred for the Renfrewshire Golf Union. At the 2016 Scottish Club Team Championship (Sept. 22), Stewart placed eighth as an individual for RGU and helped his club to a fourth-place finish at the event.

"We expect Jack and Jamie to contribute immensely for the Tigers in the future," Leroux said. "We will have a talented group of guys back for our 2017-18 squad, and they will both fit in well with their future teammates."
