Munlyn hits .500 or higher for fourth consecutive match
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Volleyball (15-3, 6-0 SEC) continued its fantastic play in Southeastern Conference action, sweeping Arkansas, 3-0 (25-19, 31-29, 25-12), on Sunday afternoon inside the Hearnes Center. The Tigers' current winning streak is up to 10 matches, marking only the program's sixth double-digit winning streak since 2000. The 2016 Mizzou squad joins the 2000, 2002, 2005, 2013 and 2015 programs as the only teams to accomplish the impressive feat.
The Tigers' defense played a key role into their seventh consecutive sweep, tallying 13.0 total blocks and limiting Arkansas to .131 hitting (23 attack errors). Five individual Tigers recorded a solo block, highlighted by senior Emily Thater (Springfield, Mo.) and senior Carly Kan's (Honolulu) two solo stops apiece. Thater's five total blocks paced Mizzou on the afternoon.
Sophomore Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) produced eight kills on .667 hitting, marking her fourth consecutive match of hitting .500 or higher. Munlyn has hit .300 or higher in all six of Mizzou's SEC matches thus far. Redshirt junior Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) also shined on offense, tallying six kills on .417 hitting.
Junior Courtney Eckenrode (The Woodlands, Texas) had a stellar overall match, recording 26 assists, two kills and team-high seven digs.
