Black Wins Game Five of Fall World Series, 16-3

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Team Black won game five of Mizzou Baseball's Fall World Series, 16-3, on Friday evening. Team Black plated five runs in both the first and second innings to jump out to an early double-digit lead. Team Black's Liam Carter (Highland Park, Ill.) worked 3.0 strong innings out of the bullpen for Team Black, giving up no hits while striking out four.

Team Black plated five runs in both the first and second innings to jump out to an early double-digit lead. Team Black's Liam Carter (Highland Park, Ill.) worked 3.0 strong innings out of the bullpen for Team Black, giving up no hits while striking out four.

Third baseman Trey Harris (Powder Springs, Ga.) led Team Black offensively with three singles, two RBI, a walk, two stolen bases, and three runs scored. Harris capped his impressive night with a smooth, barehanded play on a slow roller down the third base line to end the sixth inning.

LF Johnny Balsamo (Kansas City, MO.) also contributed to the early offensive onslaught by Team Black by knocking in two on a ground rule double in the second. Overall, Team Black's five through eight hitters all had at least two RBI.

Team Gold loaded the bases in the bottom of the third and tallied two runs on an A.J. Lewis (Chicago, Ill.) RBI single. However, Team Black's pitching staff limited damage throughout the game as Cole Bartlett (Williamsburg, Ind.), Liam Carter, and Josh Konecek (Chesterfield, Mo.) limited Team Gold to three runs on five hits.

Brett Bond (St. Louis, Mo.) added on a late run for Team Black with a solo shot to right centerfield in the top of the seventh.
