LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (8-12, 1-6) fell on the road to No. 20 Kentucky (16-4, 6-2), 88-54, Wednesday night at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. Junior guard Wes Clark (Detroit, Mich.) led the Tigers in scoring with 11 points, the sixth time this season Clark has paced his squad.
Freshman guard K.J. Walton (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman forward Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs, Mo.) both scored in double digits on the night for the Tigers, contributing 10 points each. Walton and freshman guard Terrence Phillips (Orange County, Calif.) led the team in rebounding, each grabbing six rebounds.
Mizzou converted 14-of-19 shots from the free throw line (73.7 percent), the tenth time this season the Tigers have shot better than 70 percent from the charity stripe.
After the Tigers got the first basket of the night from Clark, the Wildcats responded with a 20-0 run to gain control of the game.
Mizzou will return home to Mizzou Arena for an SEC showdown with Mississippi State on Saturday, with the game serving as the annual Coaches Vs. Cancer White Out Game. Fans are encouraged to wear white, with special White Out t-shirts available at the Tiger Team Store (a portion of proceeds will be donated to Coaches Vs. Cancer). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
