COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mizzou Tennis (12-2) dropped its SEC opener to No. 12 South Carolina, 4-0, Thursday night in Columbia, S.C.

Mizzou lost the doubles point for just the third time this season after South Carolina won matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions. Paige Cline and Hadley Berg out lasted Mizzou's team of Hine and Santos at the No. 1 position, 6-4. At the No. 2 position, Brigit Folland and Caroline Dailey won, 6-3, over Brianna Lashway and Cassidy Spearman.

Due to rain, the singles portion of the match was moved indoors. The match was played to clinch and the Gamecock took the first three matches to earn the 4-0 win. Lashaway nearly upset the nation's No. 108-ranked player, losing a close match by a score of 7-5, 7-6 (1). Machado Santos was in the middle of the third tiebreaker with No. 71 Caroline Daily after taking the first, 6-4, but the match was suspended after the Gamecocks clinched the match.

Mizzou will be back in action on Saturday when the Tigers face off against No. 15 Florida in Gainesville, Fla. First serve will be at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT.
