COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou gymnastics freshman Britney Ward (Ozark, Missouri) was named a National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches / Women (NACGC/W) regular season second team All-American, the organization announced. Ward is the first Tiger gymnast to earn regular season All-America honors, which was first awarded in 2013.

Regular season All-Americans are determined by their final regional qualifying score (RQS) rankings entering NCAA Regional competition. The top eight gymnasts (including ties) on each event and in the all-around earn first team honors, while the next eight are named to the second team.

Ward claimed second team honors on beam, where she currently ranks tied for 15th nationally with an RQS of 9.900. During her freshman campaign, the Ozark, Missouri, native scored a 9.800 or higher on beam in 11 of 12 meets and tallied a 9.850 or better 10 times. She recorded at least a 9.900 on five occasions and twice notched a 9.925 on the event, her career high.

The freshman won six beam titles on the season, including against Southeastern Conference foes Alabama, Auburn and Georgia. Additionally, Ward won six vault titles and ranked tied for 21st nationally on the apparatus with a team-high RQS of 9.885.

Last week, Ward was named both the All-SEC and All-Freshman teams thanks to her performance at the 2016 SEC Championship on March 19.

Mizzou heads to NCAA Regional competition on Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m. in Minneapolis, Minn.
