@MizzouWBB Falls to Auburn in SEC Tournament, 47-45

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eighth-seeded Mizzou (21-9) fell to No. 9 Auburn (19-11), 47-45, in the SEC Tournament on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Arena. Morgan Stock (Town & Country, Mo.) led Mizzou with a game-high 17 points as shed tied a career-high with five 3-pointers. Lindsey Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) added 11 points and tied a career-best with three triples.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eighth-seeded Mizzou (21-9) fell to No. 9 Auburn (19-11), 47-45, in the SEC Tournament on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Arena. Morgan Stock (Town & Country, Mo.) led Mizzou with a game-high 17 points as shed tied a career-high with five 3-pointers. Lindsey Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) added 11 points and tied a career-best with three triples.

Mizzou connected on nine 3-pointers in the contest but only notched six other made field goals. For the game, Mizzou shot 35 percent (15-for-43) from the floor, 41 percent (9-for-22) from beyond the arc and 86 percent (6-for-7) from the free throw line.

The first quarter featured a high-scoring attack from both teams as Auburn led 19-18 after 10 minutes. Both teams scored 10 points in the second period as Auburn took a 29-28 lead into halftime

In the third quarter, both defenses took over as the teams played to a 6-6 tie and Auburn held on for the 2-point victory with a 12-11 fourth quarter.

On the final play of the game, Cierra Porter (Columbia, Mo.) got a look from near the basket but the ball rimmed out.

Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) added eight points for Mizzou while Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) added five points, five rebounds and three assists.

Stock finished 6-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-10 from 3-point range to go along with a career-high two blocks and two steals.

  • Stock passed her twin sister, Maddie, for fifth all-time in career 3-pointers. Morgan now has 134 career 3-pointers.
  • Lindsey Cunningham tied a career-high with three made 3-pointers for the fourth time on the season
