
Tennis Drops 4-1 Home Contest To Tennessee

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis opened up a pair of weekend contests Friday night with their first indoor home match of the season. The Tigers battled close with visiting Tennessee early-on, but ultimately dropped the overall match, 4-1.
Friday evening inside the Green Tennis Center began at doubles with Tiger sophomore duo of Cassidy Spearman and Beatriz Machado Santos claiming a dominating 8-1 win at No. 3 play. At No. 1 and No. 2 contests, Tennessee marched back and took both matches to claim the team point.
In singles action, freshman Brianna Lashway got Mizzou back into the match with her first career SEC singles victory. The first-year Tiger took down Laurence Guevremont in straight sets (6-1, 7-5), pulling her team within one team point.
Tennessee re-gained control soon after however, as they won three consecutive singles matches to finish off a 4-1 overall defeat of Mizzou.
The Tigers wrap up their home weekend on Sunday, March 29. First serve is set for 12 p.m. (CT) against No. 4 Georgia at Mizzou Tennis Complex.
