
Tennis to Face No. 9 Seed LSU in SEC Championship First Round

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis will compete in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Championship on Wednesday, April 15, facing nine-seed LSU at 3:00 p.m. CT. The tournament will take place at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
On the season, the Tigers are 12-17 and 0-15 in the SEC, most recently falling to No. 4 Auburn and No. 17 Florida on the road. The Black and Gold have the 16 seed in the tournament. Sophomore Gian Octa remains ranked at No. 79.
LSU is ranked No. 15 nationally and received the No. 9 seed in the tournament. The opposing Tigers split their last two matches, defeating Kentucky 4-1 on April 9 and falling to No. 19 Tennessee 3-4 on April 11. In the rankings, Cadence Brace is No. 18 in singles, while Kayla Cross is at No. 46. LSU also has the No. 16-ranked doubles pair with Kayla Cross and Ella McDonald.
Overall, Mizzou is 0-15 against LSU, with the most recent matchup on March 19, a 4-0 loss.
Neither school has ever won the SEC Championship. The Georgia Bulldogs have taken home the title for the last three years.
UP NEXT
The winner of Wednesday's matchup between Missouri and LSU will advance to take on the No. 8 seed, Tennessee, on Thursday, April 16. The match will begin at 3:00 p.m. CT.
