ZOU NOTES
• Mizzou has tied a program record with a 9-0 start, equaling a mark set by the 1982-83 team. A 10-0 start would set a new record for the best in school history.
• The Tigers improved to 5-0 at Mizzou Arena on Monday with an 80-48 victory over Loyola Marymount. Mizzou scored the game's first 21 points and freshman guard Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) finished with a game-high 23 points, grabbed five rebounds and tied a career-high with three steals in 22 minutes of action.
• Junior forward Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) was named MVP of the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic after averaging 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals during the wins over Northeastern and Saint Mary's on Nov. 27-28 in Moraga, California.
• In just her fourth career game on Nov. 22 vs. Wake Forest, Sophie Cunningham set a new school record with 42 points, which is the second-highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season. Cunningham broke a nearly 30-year-old record of 41 points that was established by Renee Kelly on Jan. 25, 1986 vs. Oklahoma.
NONCONFERENCE NOTABLES
• Mizzou head coach Robin Pingeton signed a new 5-year contract through the 2019-20 season that was announced on Oct. 2. She earned her 85th victory at Mizzou on Nov. 27 vs. Northeastern.
• The Tigers rank ninth nationally in free throw shooting percentage (77.7), 12th in scoring margin (+25.9), 15th in rebounding margin (+13.1) and 17th in scoring defense (51.9 points allowed per game).
• Mizzou ranks 25th in the country in field goal percentage (46.3) and field goal percentage defense (33.7).
• Sophie Cunningham is tied for 17th nationally in free throw percentage (90.0), converting 27 of her first 30 attempts. She is also ranked 19th in the country in field goal percentage (59.5) as she is 50-for-84 from the floor. Although she does not quite meet the minimum of two made 3-pointers per game, with one more made 3-pointer, Cunningham's triple percentage (53.1) would rank seventh in all of Division I.
• The Tigers defeated Colorado, 53-50, last season on Dec. 12, 2014 at Mizzou Arena. Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) and Kayla McDowell (Cincinnati, Ohio) both scored a team-high 10 points in the victory.
