BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou soccer senior defender Candace Johnson (Dallas, Texas) was named to the 2015 Southeastern Conference Soccer Community Service Team, the league office announced on Nov. 19.
Johnson has been an active member of the Columbia community throughout her four years at Mizzou. In her time off the pitch and outside of the classroom, Johnson has spent many hours volunteering at the Food Recovery Network, Caleb's Pitch, Cedar Creed Therapeutic Riding Center, Bluffs Retirement Home, Homeless Shelter and the Children's hospital. Additionally, she has participated in such events as the National Student-Athlete Day as a Special Olympics buddy, Mizzou Moves, youth mentoring and Tiger Treat.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all league sponsored sports. The Community Service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
