COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf announced the signing of high school standout Jessica Yuen to a National Letter of Intent on Friday. Yuen is a native of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and attends Neuqua Valley High School, where she has been named an Esmark High School All-American.
"We are happy to announce Jess Yuen has signed with our program," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "Jess fits in with our team very well, and we as a coaching staff had an immediate connection with Jess and her family in the recruiting process. She is an accomplished golfer and has set many scoring records at her school. She is one of the top players in the Midwest, and we look forward to her helping our team in the future. Jess is also a strong student and leader at her high school."
Yuen is the most decorated female golfer in Illinois High School Association Class 2A history with four consecutive top two finishes at the Illinois state tournament. She has won two state titles and recorded two second-place finishes. Yuen has received all-conference honors and is the regional and sectional champion. She broke school records with a 30 over nine holes and a 66 overall at the regional championship.
"I chose Mizzou because of the wonderful coaching staff, teammates and the opportunity to play in the SEC," Yuen said.
Yuen chose Mizzou over Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
In American Junior Golf Association competition, Yuen has played seven events, earning five top 10 finishes, including the Forest Lake Country Club championship in 2015. She placed 20th at the Illinois Women's Open at the age of 15, when she was the youngest player to make the cut among a field of professionals. Her stroke average for her senior season was 70.5 while her summer average in 2015 was 72.0.
Yuen carries a 3.6 grade point average and has been selected as a Physical Education Leader at Neuqua Valley. She plans to major in Sport Management at the University of Missouri.
