COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving programs both earned top-10 rankings in the inaugural CollegeSwimming.com poll of the 2015-16 season, announced on Tuesday (Oct. 6). The men's program is ranked fifth in the poll with 709.69 points, while the women's team is ranked seventh with 704.93 points based on early season results.
Both programs opened the season with team titles at the 10th annual Show-Me Showdown on Friday, Oct. 2, as the men scored 682 points to defeat 10 teams and the women's squad tallied 711 points to best nine other programs.
Missouri won 11 men's and 11 women's titles during the meet. Junior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomores Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ohio) and Kira Zubar (Chaska, Minn.) each earned two event wins to lead the Tigers. Chadwick swept the 50 free and 100 free events, Stevens won the 100 free and 100 back and Zubar claimed victories in the 200 free and 500 free.
The Tigers return to the pool on Thursday, Oct. 15 as they host Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee at Noon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
