COLUMBIA, Mo. - Another thriller was added to the history books in the still-growing Arkansas-Mizzou rivalry as the Razorbacks defeated the Tigers, 61-60, Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena. The loss puts Mizzou at 7-12 (1-5, SEC) on the season.

Sophomore forward Johnathan Williams, III, senior guard Keith Shamburger and freshman guard Teki Gill-Caesar all scored in double figures and Mizzou's bench contributed 20 points to help lead the Tigers offense. Williams III tallied 15 points and 10 boards for his fourth double-double of the season and seventh in his career. Shamburger pitched in 10 points and Gill-Caesar added 16 to lead all scorers.

On the defensive end Mizzou continued its run of keeping its opponent's premier scorers to below-average performances as they kept in check the Arkansas dynamic duo of Bobby Portis and Michael Qualls. The duo scored 20 points, 14.7 below their season average of 34.7 points per game. The Hogs were also held to their lowest scoring total of the year.

The first 10 minutes were a back-and-forth affair with Williams III knocking down the Tigers' first three shots including a 3-pointer from the top of the key. After scoring no more than nine points in his last four games, Williams III put up seven in the first five minutes of action.

After falling behind 24-16 on a 3-pointer from Anthlon Bell with seven minutes left on the clock in the first half, Mizzou responded with stout defense the rest of the way allowing the Razorbacks to knock down only three more field goals the rest of the half.

Great ball movement led to a Shamburger 3-pointer followed immediately on the other end by a Gill-Caesar rebound and fast-break layup for a five point swing that tied the game at 26 with four minutes remaining in the first half. That explosive run of plays got the crowd on their feet and helped the Tigers to a 10-4 run over the last four minutes.

Gill-Caesar and Williams III each scored 11 points in the first half, set or matching career high single-half totals for both. With those two leading the way and the Tigers out-rebounding the Razorbacks, 23-13, Mizzou held a 34-30 halftime edge.

Arkansas opened the second half on an 11-3 run but the Tigers clawed back and an acrobatic highlight-reel layup from Shamburger tied the game at 41 at the under-16 timeout.

Defense and scrappy play were the theme of the second half as the score was 50-47 with the teams shooting a combined 12-36 from the field with just under eight minutes remaining. Shamburger led the way for the Tigers over that stretch with five of Mizzou's 13 points including a shot-clock-beating 3-pointer.

Williams III picked up his fourth double-double of the year and seventh of his career when he snatched his 10th rebound with just more than five minutes to play to go with 15 points on the day.

Gill-Caesar showed you don't need to be a veteran to hit a big shot as he knocked down his third three-pointer with just under three minutes left on the clock to tie the game at 58. He knocked down another jumper on the Tigers next possession from to give the Tigers a 60-59 lead. His 16 points on the day were the most he has put up since November 26th against Chaminade.

With a minute left on the clock freshman forward D'Angelo Allen came up with his biggest two plays of the day with a monster block followed by a soaring rebound to give the Tigers one last shot down 61-60. The ball was in sophomore guard Wes Clark's hands as he drew a foul driving to the basket to send him to the charity stripe with a shot to tie and take the lead but was unable to knock down either free-throw.

Mizzou returns to action on Thursday night when they take on undefeated and No. 1-ranked Kentuky at home at 8 p.m.
