LOS ANGELES - The Mizzou soccer opens exhibition play on Wednesday (Aug. 12) when the team travels to Los Angeles, Calif., to face No. 4 UCLA at 3:30 p.m. PDT (5:30 p.m. CDT). Admission to the match is free.
The Tigers return eight starters from last season's 12-7-3 squad that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished fourth in the Southeastern Conference. Missouri also posted three wins over ranked foes in 2014, with road victories of No. 14 South Carolina (1-0), No. 17 Georgia (2-0) and No. 19 Kansas (3-1).
UCLA is ranked fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, released on Aug. 3. The Bruins went 21-1-2 in 2014, their only loss a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Virginia in the NCAA quarterfinals, which snapped a 44-match unbeaten streak.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Tigers conclude exhibition action on Saturday (Aug. 15) at 7 p.m. CDT against Arkansas at Swope Park in Kansas City, Mo. The team officially opens the 2015 season on Friday, Aug. 21 as the team plays host to TCU at 6:30 p.m. CDT at Walton Stadium.
