Gymnastics Set For Check Ceremony At Ellis Fischel Cancer Center

Mizzou gymnastics coaches and student-athletes will be on-hand Thursday afternoon at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, as they present a check from money raised at this season's Pink Out meet.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou gymnastics coaches and student-athletes will be on-hand Thursday afternoon at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, as they present a check from money raised at this season's Pink Out meet.

The check ceremony is set for 1 p.m. (CT) inside Ellis Fischel's Healing Garden and will be open to the public. Media members planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early for check-in and setup.

At this year's Mizzou gymnastics Pink Out meet, a $1 from each ticket sold went towards the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Additionally, the Tigers held an apparel sale earlier in the season to raise further money for the cause.

Through the University of Missouri Health Care, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center's team of physician specialists and other trained professionals work together with a common goal: to provide the latest cancer treatments and improve quality of life for thousands of people each year.

Named after Dr. Ellis Fischel, a physician who envisioned a statewide plan for controlling cancer, the hospital was dedicated on April 26, 1940, as the first cancer center west of the Mississippi River.
